There are many restaurants to choose from in downtown Tucson, but nothing is better than going to The Hub. Located on Congress, The Hub makes it easy for college students to go have a good meal after a long day of school.
The inside has nice brick walls and dark wooden flooring giving it an urban feel, with a patio outside and plenty of seating inside. The Hub is open from 11 a.m. until midnight every night including, weekends. The restaurant is almost always full, so it’s always good to make reservations ahead of time.
All of the dishes are reasonably priced, ranging from $7 to $25, based on the portion and size. It takes a while for them to serve you, but it’s definitely worth the wait because the dish is always warm and freshly cooked.
The first time I went to this urban restaurant I ordered the mac and cheese that had small pieces of chicken on it and small bread crumbs on the top making it crunchy and 100 times tastier. Everything was excellent, except the chicken because the flavor did not meet my expectations. I didn’t complain because everything else was good. I would have rather ordered the classic mac and cheese, which is the most popular dish.
Junior Claudia Perea’s opinion on The Hub when interviewed was, “I love this place! I think that Tucson needs more restaurants like this because there’s a little bit of everything on the menu.”
This downtown hot spot also has a variety of appetizers. The menu at The Hub consists of many options from mac and cheese to burgers and if you’re on the healthier side, they also make plenty of salads.
I recommend the hot wings, which come with a good amount of chicken wings and fries. I don’t find them spicy, but others might. They are cooked to perfection making them easy to eat, and satisfying to anyone’s chicken wing soft spot. I have never tried the ice cream which is The Hub’s specialty, but I have heard that it’s the best in Tucson with many flavors.
Make sure to check this place out next time you’re heading downtown!
