Riverdale is a new television program that began airing on January 26,2017. It is based off of the famous Archie comics, which are centered around a dorky teenage boy named Archie and his problems while navigating through his adolescence. However, the show Riverdale is focused on a group of friends, including Archie, who form their friendships from unlikely circumstances. Betty, Archie, and Jughead were all childhood friends, but lost touch a little as they grew older. To make things more awkward for the group, Betty admits her feelings to Archie, and he rejects her. Within the first episode, the final member of the famous group, Veronica Lodge, moves into town and befriends them all.

As the drama of high school is affecting these teenagers, their school’s quarterback, Jason Blossom, goes missing; the only person to witness the disappearance was his twin sister, Cheryl Blossom. Cheryl is a typical mean girl, but when Archie and his friends get wrapped up in Jason’s investigation, they form interesting alliances with Cheryl, as well as some other unlikely friends. These characters are much more intense than the Archie comics characters that they were pulled from!

The show was created by The CW, and its second season will be premiering on the network on October 11, 2017. Riverdale is one of the most popular television shows at the moment, and has received an 89% rating on “Rotten Tomatoes”. Its fan base is continually growing, and it gained even more popularity when it was released on Netflix soon after Season 1’s finale. The program has lots of surprising twists, and although you may feel disinterested when you watch the first episode, don’t give up on the show! It doesn’t take long to get sucked into this show with its cliffhangers and intense plot-line. Go ahead and check out the show; Season 1 is on Netflix and is only 13 episodes long. You won’t regret watching it!
