No one wants to lose on homecoming night, and that wasn’t the case for our Foothills Falcons! Many anticipated the game against Canyon Del Oro, on September 28th, was going to be a loss because it decided the playoff outcome and CFHS standings.  Both teams were in desperate need of the win to make it to the playoffs when the regular season ends.

The Dorados struck first in the game,  the score turning  0-7. The Falcons offense was quick to answer; they rallied the rest of the game to gain twenty-one points. After the opening touchdown, the Falcons defense was able to block the Dorados for the rest of the game. The game resulted in the Falcons favor with a score of 21-7. CDO’s football star Elijah Carey, brother of famed Ka’deem Carey in the NFL, was almost completely shut out by the Falcon’s defense, holding to only one touchdown and less than one-hundred rushing yards.

This win allowed Catalina Foothills to survive in the playoff run. The game enabled Catalina Foothills football to not be unappreciated  any more, especially after the win of a great football team, Canyon Del Oro. The Falcons continue their season with the next game October sixth at NogalesLuke Mitchell intercepting the ball from CDO later in the 4th quarter.
