Caitlin Gilliland, Scene Section Editor for the past two years, will be moving to Tokyo, Japan in June to attend the prestigious Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts School. “I did a lot of research; I knew I wanted to be in Japan but I wasn’t sure of the school…of the ones I was accepted to, Le Cordon Bleu Tokyo was the best,” comments Gilliland. Aside from cooking, Caitlin enjoys learning about other cultures and learning new languages–in fact, she is fluent in French, Japanese, and Spanish. If Caitlin could only keep three things, she would take her black cat Sassafrass, her cell phone, and a little stove so she could continue cooking. At Le Cordon Bleu, Gilliland will be studying baking and pastry making to become a pastry chef and one day hopes to own a pastry shop. “I’m looking forward to the opportunity to go to Tokyo and then have the freedom to go wherever,” says Gilliland. “I also believe that life experience is what best prepares us for life after high school.”
